Amanda Acevedo, LMSW
Reentry Specialist
Amanda Acevedo serves as reentry specialist for New Hour for Women and Children—LI. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University. As the child of someone who endured incarceration, she understands the impact that it has on families. That lived experience is at the heart of Amanda’s deep commitment to providing successful support to children and mothers during and after incarceration. She has worked alongside the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department as a part of the Youth Reentry Taskforce at the Riverhead jail, where she provided support and referrals for services for young men and women housed in the youth tier. In her spare time she enjoys travelling and trying new foods.
