Director of Services & Reentry
Amanda Acevedo serves as reentry specialist for New Hour for Women and Children—LI. She holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a master’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University. As the adult child of a formerly incarcerated parent, she understands the impact that it has on families. That lived experience is at the heart of Amanda’s deep commitment to providing successful support to children and mothers during and after incarceration. She currently works in the Nassau Correctional Facility, where she provides one-on-one reentry planning to women prior to their release. Amanda also provides wrap around support to the women post-release. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, trying new foods and spending time with her daughter.
