Jessica Devlin serves as our communications and media liaison. Jess manages our social media accounts, designs outreach materials, and assists with administrative work and social justice organizing. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services and a minor in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She will be graduating with her master’s degree in social work from Stony Brook University in May of 2021. Jessica worked for several years as a visit specialist, conducting supervised visitations between noncustodial parents and their children, therefore emphasizing the importance of maintaining parent-child bonds. Being the child of a parent who endured incarceration, Jessica is passionate about criminal justice reform and knows personally and professionally the impact of the carceral system on the family unit in its entirety. Both in her studies and out in the field, Jessica has emphasized the complex ways in which different identity markers intersect to create unique experiences of privilege and marginalization. She is dedicated to supporting women, children, and families impacted by the criminal justice system, and to addressing the unique and gendered differences experienced by women. In her spare time Jess loves to craft and learn new creative skills.
