Vanessa Pino Lockel
Vanessa Pino Lockel is currently the Director of Government and Community Affairs at the MTA-Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). Prior to joining the LIRR, Vanessa served as the appointed Long Island Regional Representative for NYS Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.
Prior to her work at the Governor’s Office, Vanessa served as Deputy Press Secretary in the Office of State Comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli. She has also served as Director of Community Outreach at the former New York State Banking Department for Superintendent, Diana Taylor.
In addition, to her role in government, Vanessa has worked as a registered lobbyist for the New York City Beverage component of the American Beverage Association, an International Product Manager for Merrill Lynch, a Research Specialist at JP Morgan, and a Program Director that trained transitional inmates at Ossining Correctional Facility for a nonprofit in Westchester called, Community Capital Resources.
Vanessa graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bates College, in 2003 with a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and completed doctoral coursework in 2008 at Stony Brook University in Social Welfare. She is also a 2012 Partner of the Energeia Program at Molloy College.
In 2015, Vanessa was awarded Long Island Business News’ Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business and in 2017 she was awarded the Latina De Exito Recognition Award for Women in the Latino Community from Latinus Magazine.
Vanessa resides in Miller Place with her husband and their two children.
